1920s Harlem Renaissance - Celebrating Art at The Met

The Harlem Renaissance show at The Met is a captivating excursion through one of the most exciting periods in American art history. As you enter, Aaron Douglas’ murals greet you with their brilliant colors and powerful lines, setting the tone for exploring creativity and cultural pride. Each work, from Augusta Savage’s elaborate sculptures and Laura Wheeler Waring to James Van Der Zee’s expressive photographs, exemplifies Harlem’s artistic talent during this momentous era. Here are some of my favorites from the exhibition.
